Congratulations to the GCSE Class of 2017!
Many congratulations to Wheatley Park students who have achieved a really strong set of GCSE outcomes, successfully weathering the storm of qualification reforms in English and maths. Despite the tougher standards, students achieved well in both of the core subjects. In particular, 24% of students achieved a Level 7 (A grade equivalent) or above in English.
In other subjects, there were successes across the board with many standout performances including Ben Anderson, Katie Barnes, Amber Faucheux, Estelle Henry and Cydney Waite Brown who all achieved 10 GCSEs at A grade equivalent or above including at least one of the new Level 9 grades that signal exceptional attainment.
As with our record breaking A-level results last week, there was no secret formula for success; just teachers who constantly strove to provide the best possible teaching and pastoral care, families who provided wonderful support, and, most importantly, amazing students who demonstrated real grit and determination in the lead up to their exams.
Grade 4 and above in English: 77%
Grade 4 and above in Maths: 75%
Grade 4 and above in English and Maths: 67%
Grade 5 and above in English: 61%
Grade 5 and above in Maths: 56%
Grade 5 and above in English and Maths: 48%
EBacc entry: 17%
EBacc achieved: 10%
Wheatley Park students celebrate the school's best ever A Level results in 2017
We are delighted for our Year 13 students who have achieved outstanding results in their A Level exams. These outcomes are testament to the enormous commitment they have shown over the last two years.
As a school we are particularly pleased to have improved results at all levels, especially increasing the A*-B percentage by 12%.
Our A Level Results put us in the top 25% of schools (ALPS Grade 3) for progress for the second year in a row.
A*-A = 27%
A*-B = 58%
A*-E = 99.5%
Many students are now heading off to the next stage of their education including university courses and apprenticeships. There are many individual success stories including a selection below but we are incredibly proud of all of our students' achievements and hard work:

- Milly Whittingham achieved A*A*A*A and has accepted a place at Cambridge University to study History.
- Tom Partridge - A*A*A will be going to Birmingham University to read Mathematics.
